Robert Forward – The Owl (New English Library, 1989)

While the city sleeps. the Owl prowls.
Alexander L’Hiboux is the Owl. Victim of a rare disorder called insomnolence, he wanders the streets stalking his prey .. hangs out in all-night diners and never stays in one place long enough to cast a shadow.

‘I live on the streets of Los Angeles. No home. No car. No possessions other than those I carry in my pockets. You see, a home can be watched; a car can be bombed – and the Owl is wanted dead by many people.”

Thanks to H. P. Saucecraft for the scan and blurb.
